After three wonderful years at our previous office, Metal Toad has outgrown our lilypad.
The Toads are proud to announce our relocation into a custom-built 8,000 sq. ft. space located in downtown Portland’s historic Yeon Building. Amongst the treetops on the corner of SW 5th and Alder, we are blessed to have the entire 4th floor to ourselves, permitting frequent scooter races and audibly intense foosball matches. Complete with a reorganized floor plan, breakout rooms galore, and a renewed sense of personal space, we arrived not a moment too soon.
From the outset, Metal Toad had the planet in mind. Choosing a location in Portland’s city center facilitates commute by mass transit and the downstairs bike room makes it easy for Toads to cycle in each morning. Preserving the antique floor tile, using recycled wood to furnish our foyer, and installing energy-efficient fixtures rounded out the build.
The vision of Joaquin, Tim, and Tony joined the diligence of Adam and Aaron and carried the project from conception through on-time completion. Many thanks to the hard-working contractors and vendors that helped us pull off the relocation with (what looked like) ease.
Being one of the newest Toads offered me a unique perspective throughout this process. My earliest interviews alluded to this “new office” as if it were a true heaven on earth - complete with a five-keg kegerator, multiple all-ages libation stations, and comfy couches for casual collaboration. I only snuck into the old space for two weeks and, after a week in our new bog, I am one happy Toad. . .among many!
I, like Metal Toad, am growing. Every day spent with these multi-disciplined craftspeople teaches me practical skills and lessons. Though it has verged on the point of total mental overload, their presence offers me humility in droves. I look forward to growing with these Toads for years to come.
If you’re ever in the neighborhood, hop on in. I’d love to give you the tour!
