Why Do the Toads Blog?

Blogging is a cornerstone of Metal Toad culture. Historically, our blog has driven a huge amount of our overall web traffic and has given Toads the opportunity to engage both international development/project management and our local community.

But when and why did we start blogging? Since day one, the Toads have been blogging and sharing their knowledge. The purpose behind it has always been altruistic and, like all other Toad activities, will be meant to help others. As the blog evolves, its purpose will not. The Toads will always share our thoughts, opinions, and tricks of the trade to all that stumble upon them.

The Metal Toad Blog Philosophy

Metal Toad's blog philosophy is simple: write 'em.

Content can range from highly technical to touchy feely. The Toads have blogged a lot about philosophies of web and mobile development, tips n’ tricks from the pros, excellence in project management, leadership, diversity in tech, marketing strategy, and many other topics. If a Toad wants a platform to say anything constructive in both their personal and professional life, then this blog is their chance!

Additionally, Metal Toad's tone and voice guidelines do not apply to the blog. Each and every Toad is encouraged to communicate in their own voice with their own inflection. That said, if you’d like the marketing department to look over your blog before you post it, they’d be more than happy to oblige.

Drupal 8 is Lovely

Blogging on our current Drupal 8 platform is great. The Toads are able to add all sorts of content types, formats, in-line edits, etc. to their blog posts and liberties are taken with this functionality on a daily basis. And, though our current platform is beyond most Toads' needs, the future capabilities are nearly limitless.

Due to this, our blog is constantly evolving. The Toadcast exemplifies just how much freedom the Toads have within our blog and, if a Toad is ever interested in curating or producing any video-, image-, audio-, or unicorn-based content, Drupal 8 offers us the ability to do it.
