During this year’s hackathon, my team: Kevin, Alex, Michael, Talia, Marcela, and I built something that combines creativity, technology, and a love for storytelling: RPGMatch Master Bot.
The idea started with a simple question: What if players could ask questions about RPGMatch and instantly get the answers they need?
Whether it’s understanding the platform, learning about RPG games, or finding other players, we wanted to make that experience faster and more interactive.
We utilized Amazon Bedrock, an AI service from AWS, to develop an intelligent assistant that directly connects with a custom knowledge base about RPGMatch and tabletop role-playing games.
Through a simple chat interface, users can type their questions, and the bot responds in real-time, offering clear and useful information.
As a non-technical person, this project provided an opportunity to see how teamwork bridges every skill set. Our developers handled the backend magic, our designer brought the interface to life, and I focused on helping to build the AI knowledge base to help it learn about RPGMatch and how to respond to users.
Together, we turned an idea into something that actually works, and that’s what hackathons are all about.
The impact is simple but powerful: RPGMatch becomes more dynamic, engaging, and self-explanatory for every user who loves tabletop adventures as much as we do.
