Blacks in Tech:Initial Thoughts/Review

Blacks in Tech is a group that helps cultivate a community amongst African Americans within the Tech space as well bring about important conversations on diversity and inclusivity in the Tech industry. I had the opportunity to attend a lecture and open discussion about “Branding in the New World”. It was given by CJ Johnson Jr. an award-winning Brand Consultant, Influencer, and Creator of Project: Ignite. During his discussion he dived into the trends and direction that branding and marketing are taking in this day and age. He emphasized the importance of utilizing large social media networks such as twitter, FB, IG and Linkedin to you and your companies benefit. Furthermore through social media focusing on subgroups that target specific audiences ( ex. Black twitter). Most importantly it is imperative that we don’t just build a buy/sell relationship but an actual authentic relationship where the client and company benefit from each other than from just solely a  product or service . Following this lecture we were given the opportunity to network with other professionals in the room. Blacks in Tech is an amazing group to check out ,regardless if you are not of African American background this is a welcoming group with essential information and opportunities.
