Last week, Metal Toad hosted an internal Hackathon focused on Agentic AI, bringing together teams from across the company to experiment, build, and explore how autonomous AI systems can solve real business challenges. As someone from the Sales team, it was a great opportunity to step behind the curtain and see firsthand how our teams transform ideas into innovative solutions.
Beyond the technology, the event was also a chance to reconnect with colleagues, exchange perspectives, and collaborate across disciplines. The room was filled with energy—teams rapidly prototyping, testing concepts, and exploring practical ways AI can streamline workflows, improve decision-making, and create smarter systems for our clients.
My team, “Estimate Eliminators,” focused on building the concept of a Capacity Forecasting System designed to improve project visibility and planning. The idea was to create a system capable of converting Jira Story Points into hours, calculating the actual remaining work in a project, and comparing it against planned capacity in Parallax. By bringing these data points together, the system could automatically identify potential gaps and delivery risks while generating clear, automated executive reports that help leadership quickly understand project health and make informed decisions.
While the Hackathon was an internal event, the ideas that emerged reflect a much bigger opportunity. Agentic AI has the potential to transform how organizations manage complex operations, turning fragmented data and manual processes into intelligent, automated workflows.
Events like this are a reminder that innovation at Metal Toad doesn’t happen in isolation—it happens when people from different backgrounds come together to experiment, challenge assumptions, and build solutions that can deliver real value to our clients.
And if the creativity and momentum from this Hackathon are any indication, we’re only getting started.
