TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION

Metal Toad and WARN settled on a bluetooth mobile application to control the winch. 

This solution meant that WARN had to architect both a software solution, but while parallel processing mechanical engineering and hardware development; inside a manufacturing environment that was new to agile workflows and software development.

The teams determined that a low-energy bluetooth enabled application in both iOS and Android and was the right approach. Over a series of phased sprints Metal Toad worked with WARN to develop a robust UX effort. We then engineered the application from pilot to v.01 with substantial QA efforts to ensure extremely secure connectivity in all situations.

IMPACT

The product was introduced publicly at the 2019 SEMA (Speciality Equipment Manufacturing Association) trade show in Las Vegas, over 100 consumer demos over two days showcased a uniformly positive consumer response.
