Metal Toad Media is looking for a senior level developer to help lead our team. You will work on exciting new web-based LAMP application ranging from internal projects, to small e-commerce clients to custom applications for Verizon and other publicly traded companies.

In this role your responsibilities will include:

• writing excellent code
• working with junior members of the development team
• working with project manager to create project documentation
• technology recommendations

IMPORTANT: This is an in office position, so you must be local to Portland, Oregon. No outsourced firms or remote workers need apply.

Required Skills:

• 4+ years of experience in software development
• 4+ years experience in database architecture and interaction
• PHP5 programming experience
• Solid understanding of Object oriented programming
• Experience in test driven development
• Experience in working with MVC architecture
• Expertise with templating, caching, sessions, and authentication
• Unix/Linux command line experience
• Background in developing for GNU / Linux or Unix-like platforms
• Good communication skills

Pluses:

• BS in computer science or related field
• MySQL database experience
• Apache (or other web server)
• JavaScript (and AJAX)
• XHTML and CSS
• XML web services
• Familiarity with agile software development methodologies (XP, etc)
• Read the book the Mythical Man-Month
