While many hosting providers are running to the cloud to save costs on infrastructure or to allow for a higher markup, Metal Toad Media believes in hosting on iron. Virtualization allows for efficiency when spread across multiple customers, but the virtual infrastructure does come at a performance cost, typically in the form of increased IO wait time - and dollar to GB iron still provides better value.

All that said, we do provide/recommend a virtualized provide for small one-off sites that are not part of a consolidated platform where isolation is more important that performance.
